Slow Start, Strong Finish on the Crappie Bite
Pomme de Terre Lake - Hickory, MO
We hit the water at Pomme De Terre Lake today targeting crappie with trolling tactics. The bite was a little on the slow side, but persistence paid off. Conditions may not have been red hot, but we still managed to bring in a solid limit by the end of the trip.
Crappie are still holding in scattered schools, so covering water with a slow, steady troll was key. Most of the action came in mid-depth zones, and lighter bites kept us on our toes. If you're heading out, make sure to stay patient and keep adjusting until you find the right speed and depth.
It’s not quite wide-open yet, but the fish are there—and they're worth the effort.
